Volvo FH Aeros at Ian Craig Haulage
24 Apr 2025

Falkirk-based Ian Craig Haulage has taken delivery of its first new Volvo trucks for a decade, buying a pair of FH Aero Globetrotter 6×2 mid-lift tractor units.
Both trucks are designed to save fuel, with their aerodynamic shape, streamlined camera monitoring systems and drag-free disc brakes helping to reduce running costs and improving sustainability.
A camera monitoring system was introduced with the launch of the FH Aero last year to further improve aerodynamics and save energy.
The trucks join a 70-strong fleet and will operate on long-haul routes to destinations across the UK 鈥 powered by Volvo鈥檚 500 hp I-Save engine, combined with Volvo鈥檚 12-speed I-Shift gearbox.
Matching 12.8-litre Euro-6 diesel engines deliver the maximum 500 hp between 1,250 and 1,600 rev/min, plus up to 2,800 Nm of torque between 900 and 1,250 rev/min.
Ian Craig Haulage transports goods in the bricks & blocks and timber sectors 鈥 working for some of the construction and logging industry鈥檚 largest suppliers and manufacturers.
Supplied on a three-year Volvo Gold Contract, the trucks are expected to clock-up about 150,000 km per year, running five days a week.
Key to the purchase decision was local dealer Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North & Scotland opening a new Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU) last year in Grangemouth, just eight miles from the haulier鈥檚 operating base.
Colin Craig, Director of Ian Craig Haulage, said: 鈥淲e鈥檇 heard a lot of positive comments about the FH Aero鈥檚 fuel efficiency from other fleets, and several factors came together to make it the right time to try them for ourselves.鈥
