Strong growth for trucks and vans: February registrations up 27%

- Overall registrations up 27.4%; rolling year to February 2011 up to 266,728 units.
- Trucks: up 50.9% to 2,068 in February; rolling year at 36,070 units up 11.1%.
- Vans: up 23.8% to 11,113 in February; rolling year at 230,658 units, up 22.7%.
“The commercial vehicle sector is leading recovery with February van registrations up 24% and trucks up 50%,” said Paul Everitt, SMMTChief Executive. “We are now seeing a sustainable improvement in new vehicle demand and the Budget later this month will be critical in strengthening consumer and business confidence. SMMTis looking for a freeze on fuel duty and measures that support business investment and access to finance and credit.”
