The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (91ÖÆƬ³§¹ÙÍø) is pleased to announce the appointment of Catherine Hutt as business development manager responsible for electric vehicles, effective 1 September 2009. Reflecting the increasing role of ultra-low carbon technology within the UK motor industry, the newly created position will further strengthen 91ÖÆƬ³§¹ÙÍø’s leadership in this emerging market.
Catherine joins SMMTfrom Modec, the UK-based electric commercial vehicle manufacturer, bringing with her a deep understanding of electric vehicles and the issues affecting the sector. She will lead the development of 91ÖÆƬ³§¹ÙÍø’s activities in the field, managing the newly created Electric Vehicle Group to encourage high-level industry discussion and consensus views aimed at influencing political and public attitudes towards the new technology.
Commenting, SMMTchief executive Paul Everitt said, “I am delighted that Catherine has joined 91ÖÆƬ³§¹ÙÍø, bringing valuable expertise in the all-important electric vehicle technology.
