Myenergi is to supply thousands of smart Zappi EV chargers to engineers at telecommunications specialist Openreach, enabling them to charge their vehicles at home overnight.

As part of a £3m investment in charging infrastructure, Openreach, which runs more than 5,000 electric vans, will also significantly expand its network by adding new chargers at hundreds of its operational sites nationwide.

Myenergi’s Zappi chargers offer fast and flexible charging at up to 22kW and smart modes that make the most of solar and off-peak tariffs.

The installations will be carried out by Ovo Energy.

The new partnership will help Openreach – the operator of the UK’s second-largest commercial fleet – to fully go zero emission by 2031 as part of its ‘Let’s Reach Zero’ strategy.

Openreach is currently working on adding a further 2,000 EVs to its fleet by the end of March 2026, contributing to BT Group’s ambition to reach net zero carbon emissions across its entire operations in six years’ time.

“Switching the majority of our fleet to electric by 2031 is a big challenge but this partnership is another important step – giving our engineers smart, reliable charging at home to support a greener future.”
