·         Registrations: 10,626 in August; down 1.8% to 237,870 for the rolling year.

·         Trucks: 1,960 in August; down 22.9% to 32,221 for the rolling year.

·         Vans: 8,666 for the month; up 2.7% to 205,649 for the rolling year.

“August saw sustained improvement in new van registrations and some positive signs from the truck sector,” said Paul Everitt, SMMTchief executive.  “The economy remains in the early stages of recovery and it will be important for government to help sustain growth in the forthcoming spending review.”
