GXO to operate Luton Airport鈥檚 first consolidation centre
5 Feb 2026

GXO Logistics has announced it will operate London Luton Airport鈥檚 (LLA) first consolidation centre to screen and manage hundreds of thousands of airside deliveries.
The centre is located in one of three hangars, being repurposed in an 拢11.5 million refurbishment programme that includes two new aircraft engineering and repair buildings.
From fashion items to perfume and cosmetics, consumer electronics and goods for LLA鈥檚 shops and restaurants, GXO will securely check and deliver every item that passengers can buy in the terminal while waiting for their flights, and all deliveries that support airside operations.
As part of the service, LLA鈥檚 concessionaires will benefit from customer service support, including real-time track and trace notifications, direct contact to the centre, and 24/7 access to a service-focused team.
GXO will also implement a bespoke IT system – secure, technical, real time, electronic alerts and messaging (STREAM), to monitor, report and manage service levels, ensuring continuous improvement.
The logistics firm has been operating airport consolidation centres at major UK airports since 2006, and the new facility is expected to address changing operational requirements at Luton, including rising passenger numbers and corresponding delivery volumes.
Martin Cooper, Managing Director, Technology and Consumer Goods, at GXO UK and Ireland said: 鈥淎s air travel continues to grow, consolidation centres play a pivotal role in driving efficiencies and improving sustainability for airport groups.
鈥淔or almost two decades, we鈥檝e operated in complex logistics environments, including airport consolidation, and we鈥檙e looking forward to streamlining London Luton Airport鈥檚 delivery process, making it more efficient, further automated and secure.鈥
